Apple Crumble

Ingredients

  • 10 Lilas Fillo Dough Sheets
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 medium tart apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Topping

  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¼ cup almonds, slivered

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350oF.
  2. Cut Lilas Fillo Dough sheets in half. Butter each one and layer in an 8" square baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, ginger and cinnamon. Add apples and toss to coat. Pour over buttered Lilas Fillo sheets.

Topping

  1. In a bowl, combine breadcrumbs, flour, brown sugar, ginger and cinnamon. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs and add almonds.
  2. Sprinkle over apple mixture and bake for 40-45 minutes.
  3. Cool before serving.
